Hi I recently bought a used 2016.
I watched a couple of videos and they conflict like most things in this hobby.
How long should I let the probe dry for 2 or 24hrs?
It has settled on 73 but I havnt put it in the calibration solution yet. It’s warming in the tank water now.
Is auto or manual better?
Any other tips for the next step?

This is what I do and I consider best practice for the cond probe. I have yet to hear a single user that this didn't work perfectly for. Set temp compensation to 2.2 and you can adjust that later if you see oscillations in reading due to temp.
1. (Only applies for first calibration) leave in tank uncalibrated for up to one week (mine took 4 days) until the reading stabilizes to the same reading as the previous day at the same temperature (oscillations during the day are expected as temp changes in this step).
2. Float calibration packet in tank or sump to get it up to tank temp for 30 minutes.
3. Remove the probe from the tank, lightly rinse with RO and pad dry with a paper towel. Drying for multiple hours will not help the calibration.
4. Complete the dry step
5. Place the probe in the calibration solution for 5 minutes and make sure it's touching tank water so it doesn't cool down (I use 2 magnets for this).
6. Complete the wet step.
7. Verify all went well by checking that RODI water reads near 0 and the packet reads 35. If off by any significant margin, repeat steps 3-6.

I have tried 4 times now and the highest I can get is 32 the other times have been about 28.
On the last step do I wait 5 mins even if it still goes up and down by 3-4?
If the number is still changing you can go longer for better accuracy. 5 minutes usually works for me though.Quote:

Nope. You could leave it in there for an hour and go do something else if you want.Quote:

Thanks for the help zombie but I have given up for the night, it read 0.2 in ro but highest it would go is 32ppt but now I have put it back in tank water it is reading 34ppt
Tried twice more this morning, still reads 32 in calibration solution but reads 34 when in tank water, Reading is stable.
Have I got a worn probe or a duff solution?
Calibrated ph probe this morning and that worked first time.

34 is likely correct. The +-2 temp just means you need to tune the temp compensation. You did enable that prior to calibration right?Quote:

It's possible that the probe calibration is hitting some sort of wall and needs to be reset. I know there is a process to do so, but I never did it myself and don't remember what it is.Quote:

Then reboot the base unit then plug the probe back in once it’s rebooted.
Carry out calibration.
Hopefully that will work but I need to get another calibration solution before I can do it.
