    Smile PAR Values

Hello , I just purchased the PAR kit and was wondering what PAR values would good for a refugium and the main tank. I have had my tank about a year now and the fish are doing well, I want to get a refugium going and then try my hand at corals etc. any values would be appreciated.

It's very dependent on the particular coral species. Most LPS do best in the 100 to 300 range. Species like euphyllia should be in the higher end of that range, species like duncans can do well in the lower range, and species like zoanthids do best in the middle of the range. SPS need to be in the 200-500 range. Species like montipora do best in the lower part of the range, species like millepora and echtinata do best in the middle of the range, and acroporas usually need the higher part of the range. Ideally, you want around 600 par on the water surface.

Refugium don't need much par. 50-150 is plenty.
