The name you are trying to use is probably too long.

Yea that can't be it. I have tried just one letter capitalized and not.
can you post a screen shot of what you are trying to do and the message you get?
Chad
I do not know how to post a picture on here.
If using Windows, use Snipping Tool to grab the applicable area of your screen, and save that image. Then, click Reply here, which will put you in the post editor;, click the Insert Image button insertimage.png. Click From Computer, click Browse, locate and select the image file you saved, then click Upload Files.
If using Mac, Google for how to grab a screen shot, then use the above instructions to post the pic.

Make sure you don't have any spaces at the beginning or end of the name.

I am having the same issue. I edit the name of the outlet and send the configuration to the Apex. Go back to the dashboard and it still has the default name. When I check the controllers display the name is correct. I also cannot see the second Energy bar on the dashboard, but it shows 2 in the controller display. I have updated to the current firmware. Example is changing Light1_3_1 to Pump
Having the same problem any fix to this yet? Thanks
Yep that must be it... got a full system with loads of stuff, now the question how can i rename something back to the original name which i find of less priority. Ridicules restriction btw!
Plus 4 rows on the dashboard shouldn't be that hard to program.... i have one more FMM module on order, i don't see how that is in anyway useful if i can not even rename those ports...
Just noticed this was already found more than 6months ago and not been done anything about... cant believe it! Now i 8 FMM ports i cant name. Had to resort to changing temp probes back to the original name so i can at least have my first 4 FMM probes giving a correct name (i have 3x FMM module)
Anybody wrote Neptune direct about this and got a response?
Since we are not getting help here i opened a support ticket... this is just too annoying if you have 19 modules with multiple ports to be named...
"Thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately 24 is the limit to the number of probes that you can rename with the classic Apex, the new 2016 can have up to 48. There is nothing that can be done to increase the limit on the classic Apex per the engineering team."
Well that sucks!
