Hi all,
Just set up my new Apex on a Tropical / Malawi / Tanganyika Cichlid tank.
Is anyone else using Apex control for their freshwater aquariums??
Thanks.Fish tank1.jpg

I would if I had a tropical system. Those fish are important too and there is a host of monitoring parameters that would be great to know like temp, pH, etc... Also, the control of your lighting, heaters, figurines that bubble and make treasure chests open and close could come on at certain times. The list is endless.

I have mine setup on my new Nature Aquarium Discus tank.
Wish there was a way to switch the water monitoring from SW to FW, but not gonna lose sleep over it.
I use it on both freshwater tanks
Aqua Oak 5' tank with Apex controller and Aqua Oak 4' tank with Apex controller
Use it for Hypancistrus sp. breeding setup in my garage which has 4 aquariums draining into 1 large sump; it has been a God-send - saved me from a stalled return numerous times and a overheating aquarium. Controls lights, pumps, heaters, RO production, RO backflush, ATO and AWC. All I have to do is feed the fish.
Would never setup another aquarium without one; especially larger or more intricate setups.
Not sure why it isn't more popular on the FW side of the hobby, probably because FW aquarists are more frugal.
I use it on my ADA 90-P. Mostly into plants, fish not so much. I originally wanted it just for a co2 controller then ended up buying almost everything they make I love it. I use it for co2,ozone,PAR,dosing,mp10,heating (not in summer) lights, etc.
Not the conductivity module, though. I don't know how I'd use that in FW.
I use mine on a 300 gallon discus tank. Just started using Apex a couple of weeks ago, still adding onto the system. I love it so far.
Hi Fellow planted tank enthusiast,
I have 3 planed tanks, 125, 100 and 65 gal (all with discus) - the 100Gal is an ADA set-up that I want to set up a Neptune Classic on (I got it last year and now want to set up), my goal is to control my CO2, dosing (I am running an EI macro/ micro system and excel manually), water change, and anything else that the apex might have that is useful. I would love to hear about your system as it seems to be how I would like to set up my tank. As noted - I have numerous display tanks and I would eventually like to set up 3 independent systems but I would first like to try on the 100. I also have Neptune ready lighting from Kessel and want to turn this tank into my test bed for all automation. I look forward to hearing from you!
I know this is an old thread.
I just got an Apex EL. I'm using it to control three small internal filters so that each is on for two hours, off for one, offset by an hour each. It is also monitoring pH and Temp, and I configured feed/stir/clean/dark cycles for the filters and lights.
I'm starting to think about trying CO2, perhaps with this as part of the system:

Anyone try this?
I use my apex on my tropheus tank. Could not live without it.
