Apex to control Temperature in Tank

I have a 1500 watt heater with it own thermostat. This I set at 25 degrees C. Can some one help me set the Apex to work the heater over riding the Built in Thermostat. If this is not possible I will use the Apex as a redundancy incase the built in thermostat fails. I would want it to turn outlet 3 off if temp gets higher than 26degrees c.
    Thank you
    Bob M

Apex to control Temperature in Tank

Most people have heaters with built in thermostats!

    Fallback OFF
If Temp < 25.0 Then ON
If Temp > 26.0 Then OFF

Using the example Psymon gave, you'd set the heater thermostat slightly higher, say 26.5 or 27C.

Make sure you change your apex temperature settings to deg C of course. The default was Fahrenheit as far I remember.

    Ramping vs pulsing the heater

I'm using a Finnex 800W titanium heater with a Finnex digital controller. I have the Apex programmed as a fail safe. I'm concerned for the Amp spikes of 5A when the heater cycles on and off. The solid state on the EB8 I'm assuming can handle this. But, if I use the Apex vs the Finnex as the controller, is there a way to ramp the amperage to provide more of a soft start. I guess my question is - Is binary (on/off) the best method for heating and for the equipment, heater, EB, controller, etc?

The solid state outlets of an EB8 are rated for 6A; a 120VAC 800w heater draws ~6.7 amps, so you are already overloading it.

So going back to the start of this thread, how is a 1,500W being controlled?

The original poster is in Australia, which uses 230v power; he uses an EnergyBar 6; EB6 outlets are rated for 8A. 1500w @ 230V is about 6A, so he is well within the limits of the EB6

I have a canopy fan and was thinking of setting it like this:

    Fallback OFF
If Temp < 77.5 Then OFF
If Temp > 78.5 Then ON

Leaving the fan on 24/7 I have seen the tank drop to almost 76 and evaporation is very high. Was wondering if this would provided the desired affect, turn off below a specific temp and on above a specific temp.
