    Optical Sensors for FMM

A hole is needed to mount the current OS-1 optical sensor. Is there anything is development that is magnetic and can stick to glass?

My ATO is an autoaqua smart ATO. It uses a magnet sensor and a magnet glass prism. No holes needed.

We do not yet have a mount for a singular optical sensor. However, there will be an ATO mount that holds more than one as well as a physical method to stop water should electronics fail. It was shown at MACNA.

Can the OS-1 be connected without a FMM? I just want the level sensing, but not the flow metering.

    No. An FMM is necessary.

I guess I'll have to DIY something up. What size hole do I need to drill to fit the OS-1 into a piece of acrylic?

This works for my float level sensors.

How long is the cable for the optical sensor? Can it be extended with a miniplug extension cable that has the required 4 poles. I have a saltwater mixing station that is a bit distant from the tank.

Also does the optical sensor have to be mounted vertically (facing up) or will it also function mounted horizontally? I was thinking of drilling the side of the saltwater mixing station and using the sensor through the side. This would get the miniplug cable out of the water.

You may be able to extend it. But I cannot recommend that. The sensor works best pointing up or horizontally. Pointing down can lead to delayed response as a drop will form at the point and due to surface tension may stay there for some time.

Do you have a photo of that setup Terence? With minimal documentation it is a bit of a guessing game for the best way to set the sensors for an ATO operation.

You can see the FMM ATO in this video:

These will not work the FMM.

I know that. Looks like they originated from the same supply chain in China. Interesting.

I have three of the Neptune opticals from BRS in my hand now (waiting for the standalone FMM).

They are identical. On the surface of course.

I am also in the market for an ATO solution. I recently purchased an FMK, PMUP & optical sensors.

Is there a release date for the ATO mount shown in the MACNA video?

I'm on the same boat. I finally got the second sensor in the mail. Now I need to make an ATO bracket out of acrylic. I just don't have access to precision tools (only a hand saw and Weldon 16) so I'm trying to make it as simple as possible. Is it advisable to elevate one of the sensors higher than the other? I was thinking of making a basic L bracket where both sensors were on the same level. If one failed, then obviously, the other would take over. But then again, the programming would become a little sketchy since I would have two active sensors on the same level.

Anyone have a simple and effective design for a bracket/sensor holder I could fabricate?

Are there any diagrams on hole size of the OS-1? I have a step drill ready, just not sure how big I should make the holes.

Should the sensor be submerged half way into the water or fully submerged when mounted horizontally? And how high should the other sensor be mounted up?

Hey - I was able to use the following cable to extend the wire on the OS-1. It appears to work after a quick test but I will leave it for a few days to see if any issues arise.
