Do I need VDM module / Kessil

Hi,

Just bought the Apex 2016.

Want to use apex to control my Kessil A360's
My question is, do i need the buy VDM module?

No the base unit has variable speed ports on it to connect the Kessil lights.

I was wondering this same thing as I just bought the new 2016 apex to replace my apex lite, but if I choose I can still use the VDM correct? The reason I ask is because the main base unit of the 2016 apex is located about 10 feet Below ( in basement sump fish room) where my kessil lights are located on main display tank. I'm not sure that the cable that connects to the variable speed ports are long enough to reach into the basement to plug into the base unit of the apex. If the cables are not long enough I assume I can still use the VDM module.
