    WAV Purchase

    Hi Guys

Need to ask I have been going through the WAV threads and it appears a lot of reefers are unhappy with the quality of the WAV as I am now in the market for 2 new wave makers I have had the MP 40's for years without a problem 1 has finally given up so would like to purchase new ones, I wanted the WAV as I would like to have all Neptune gear but not confident as people saying they are breaking down after a year, just seeing whether to purchase WAV or new MP 40's could you please help with thoughts.

I got mine at release and they have been working great. The only issue I had was a bad impeller which was replaced under warranty.

I personally purchased MP40's over the WAV's for several reason.

First, Apex makes great controllers, but anything I though was a gamble. Conversely, Eco-Tech makes great power head units, but I would never buy a controller from them.

Second, a full closed system concerns me. I want products that will work with AND without an Apex. This way I am not married nor dependent on the system. I know Vortechs can be used on or off and Apex. The WAV pumps however require the Apex and can only operate on an Apex.

From a reliability stand point, I score them the same. If you read through this board, you will see all the issues people are having with WAV pumps. If you review the other boards, you will see the issues people are having with Vortechs. Customer service with both companies is great, so not an issue. I do find the Vortechs are easy to disassemble to service. I have not handled a WAV but I have read they are more difficult to maintain. No idea what the reality is.
