Unable to view classic dash board

Long story short. I had a buddy help set up my apex a couple years ago. He had to port forward to ultimately get me online with fusion.
I have never seen the classic dash on my apex. No problem, but im way over due on a firmware update. So I thought I would try to view classic before I open a can of worms with a firmware update.
My IP on the display says 10.0.0.10 and when I enter it into my browser its says site cant be reached.
I logged into my router,it says my apex is ipv4 10.0.0.10. And my computer is 10.0.0.191 in my router.
I googled whats my ip address .com and it gave me 68.49.121.### if that helps.
My apex is hard wired and I have no problems with fusion.
Im not sure what my next step should be. All I really want to do is update firmware with ease and view the classic dash. Thanks for any help..

Drop to a command prompt. Can you ping 10.0.0.10? Any wireless adapters involved? You should not have had to do port forwarding to get Fusion to work, you might have a double NAT (two routers) or something?

If you can't reach your Apex on that IP address you could set it to DHCP, let it pull an IP address and try connect there. If that fails plugging up head to head with the Apex would be the next step.

Thanks for the quick reply Justin L. I did just ping and it appears to be sent and received, no additional info after . Sorry im not very knowledgeable with computers. I did notice in the command propt that the computer gateway is 10.0.0.10 if that means anything.
No wireless adapters involved ,only one router however comcast upgraded us a couple months ago.
Apex has been running for close to 3 years now. I'm not sure why my buddy had to port forward but it was a strugglefest. When i called him over he had it setup in on fusion in like 15-20 min.
The DHCP is on and always has been. Should i set it to off? Or reset? Thanks..

Hmm...your gateway and the IP of the Apex shouldn't be the same number. Somethings off there. You're sure the IP address of the Apex is 10.0.0.10? Verified via the display?

Port forwarding is not needed for Fusion communications. Even if configured, it will not be used for communications between the Apex and Fusion.

I think your buddy may have changed the http port in the Apex. Using the display, go to System->Net Setup->Http port. If it is some value other than 80, use that number in the web browser. For example, if the http port is set to 8888, Then use this:

    http://10.0.0.191:8888

Thanks for the reply. I will try it as soon as I get home. I'm positive the ip on the apex is 10.0.0.10. And yes I remember seeing the port was 8000. I will try 10.0.0.10:8000.

Yep, that's it then. http://10.0.0.10:8000 should work fine, although like Russ, I'm still not sure why port forwarding would be required for Fusion. Maybe you were setting up AquaticLog or something else as well?

Bingo!!!! It worked, thank you Justin and Ross for you quick reply's and guidance.
Im not sure why he port forward but it got me on fusion so didn't really think of any problems to follow. We were only setting up the Apex nothing else. He may have thought the firewall was giving us problems. IF i remember right the utility and or zip files where having problems opening or extracting.
Would you recommend making any changes? I figure just leave it the way it is.
    Thanks again for help!!

Reset the http port to the default of 80. Reboot. You can then just use http://apex in the web browser to access the Classic Dashboard. Or if you have changed the name of the Apex, use that (i.e. http://reefapex )

Remove all port forwarding to the Apex in the router.

Ok so the apex side seems pretty strait forward. Now in my router which was replaced this past winter,I went to the port forwarding section and it says its disabled and doesn't show any devices in that section. Now if i go to connected devices (i.e. phones, laptops, reef link etc) I believe the apex is in there,as ethernet connected and when i click on it. It says configuration DHCP. So I Dont think I need to delete any port forward in the router. I hope this makes sense.
FYI in the router its not labeled as apex in my router its 00:0c:11.23:25:07.
And yes I changes my apex name to JCE1980 so I will type http//JCE1980 and classic dash should pop up as long as my I complete getting rid of the port forward stuff.
