I recently had a problem between my Kessil light and my Apex. I used a standard network extension cable with the store bought Kessil dimming cable to reach my light. About the middle of the cable was where the extension was connected to the Kessil dimming cable and this was also the low point on the cable. Some salt water got on the cable and tracked down the wire, eventually reaching the mid point and the extension cable and shorted it out. This cause smoke from the connection and the apex to shut down. Luckily the apex did shut down and did not continue to send voltage into a shorting situation, this could have caused a fire. Once I identified the problem and replaced the cable (and made sure the connection couldn't get wet) everything worked fine again.
Thanks to good engineering my house didn't burn down and both my Kessil and Apex are still working. Thank you for a great product, keep up the good work guys.
Have a look at the below picture for the extent of the damage to the cable.
