Apex classic found on network but has no internet connection

    Hello all,

I'm trying to connect to apex fusion for the first time but am unsuccessful so far.
I've read most of the help threads here but i haven't found my situation yet.
I can ping my apex on the network, it's also clearly visibly on the network but it can't communicate with apex fusion.

    DHCP is on.
    ip address: 192.168.178.11
    netmask: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.178.1
    dns: 84.116.46.21
    port: 30696
    firmware: 4.40 - 3A16 build #1

Could this be a firewall issue on my router, do i have to forward the port?
Is it normal for the display to keep sounding an alarm when the apex fusion connection is down?

Thanks for you help in advance.

Your first step would be to update your firmware , as you have a very old version : https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/sw-updates/

Then follow the process describe here : https://www.neptunesystems.com/getstarted/

I tried updating, but got the following messages:
    log in successful, login failed.
    I used the standard usr/pwd.

I had my virus scanner off and firewall too.

Should it be the login i use for apex fusion?
Should i set them on the display module?

The Apex has it own login and password , i doubt much they are the same . Normally the native Apex login is : admin and password : 1234 . It might have been changed however . The proper login and password can be retrieve from the display module . The proper login and password are needed for the firmware update . As you are able to access the network set up page on the controller , those are the proper to be used for an update . For Fusion , you have to create an account , follow the instructions .

Yes they can be reset with the display . After setting up the new login and password , reboot the controller for those to take effect .

I tried connecting by changing the login and password manually but to no avail.
Then I reset to factory setup via SYSTEM -> Init Memory ->All which conveniently also reset the password and login.
Afterwards I could successfully upgrade the firmware both the firmware and websites and now the firmware is on 4.52.
However i still could not connect and the only thing different than recommended was the DNS, so i set DHCP off and set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and ALT to 4.2.2.1 and did a restart.
After the restart i manually set the ip to the one mentioned above and the gateway also, then did a restart.
After this restart i still have no communication with apex, so now I'm stuck again.

The values are now the same with the exception to:
    DHCP: OFF
    dns: 8.8.8.8
    alt dns: 4.2.2.1
    port: 80
    firmware: 4.52 - 5A17 build #1

I managed to get it working turned out that the internal firewall of my router needed to be set to low (ubee).
