    Apex base unit power supply.

Does the Apex base unit require a power supply to operate the probes if it is connected to the EB832 by USB cable?

No the the power supply that you can buy is mainly for backup purposes

Read the Apex base unit should be powered by a UPS if you want to receive notices when the power goes down. Is this what you mean by backup purposes?

What you do with the power supply is plug it into an outlet not on a UPS. Then you plug the EB8 or whatever power bar you have into a UPS and the base unit will monitor the AC adapter for loss of power. If it finds you lost power, you can have it send an Email, shut down non-critical devices (to conserve UPS power), etc. I have my Apex setup to turn off my skimmer and non-essential pumps. It only keeps the iLink unit powered so the WAVs stay functioning. Everything else in my tank shuts off.

How do you set up email alerts if you have a power lost on apex fusion. I have the EB832 plugged into the UPS and the 12v power adapter plugged into the wall. I enabled the heartbeat feature. Can not figure out what code to put in the email alert settings.

    1. Enable the Power Monitor feature.

    2. In the email output, add this at the end:

If Power Apex Off 000 Then ON

    3. For those devices plugged into the EnergyBars powered through the UPS, add the following at the end of the program for each output you want shut down if the Apex detects a loss of power:

If Power Apex Off 000 Then OFF

The “000” may be modified if desired - it is the amount of additional time in minutes the statement will stay true after power is restored. This can be useful to avoid everything from starting back at the same time.

Russ is on point, however, I would actually suggest doing this in your email alarm instead

If Power Apex Off 001 Then ON
If Power Apex Off 000 Then ON

This will provide more information for troubleshooting. If you see 001, it means the apex rebooted. If you see 000, then it means the apex is currently running on UPS power.

I tried both of those and still no email. When I disconnect the 12v from the apex all unnecessary equipment cuts off except what I want to stay on but I don’t get any email or text saying power went out.

If Power Apex Off 000 Then ON
If Power Apex Off 001 Then ON

That is copied and paste from my email alert configuration. This is the only alert I have.

I am saving before I kill the power. My email is correct I received the verification code as well.

You must have a Set OFF as the first line in the email output program.

The slider for the email output must be in AUTO.

The only thing I have in the Email output program is:
    1. If Power Apex Off 000 Then ON
    2. If Power Apex Off 001 Then ON

The order of those should be swapped. 001 goes first, then 000.

You made sure power monitoring was enabled right? I believe the apex may also require a reboot after enabling, but I'm not 100% on that.

You need to make sure the email alarm outlet is in AUTO.

Also, if a different unrelated email alert is currently active, you won't get an email, so that's another thing to check.

Temporarily disable that one in the inputs tab. Just change alarm to "never" in the dropdown. Once you get a Set OFF message, test your power outage email and reenable the conductivity alert when you have solved whatever issue is making that active right now.

I disabled the conductivity alarm to never, then I went through and disabled all probes that had alarms. But At the top it still has a number one and when I click on the on it says; an alarm on this apex is on. I don’t know how to clear it

Add the Set OFF statement as the first line of the email program if you have not already done that. Then slide the email output slider to OFF for a couple of seconds, then put it back to AUTO. If the alarm stays OFF, then do you power loss test. If the alarm turns back ON again, tell us what the alarm message says.

Thanks you both for your help. Adding that set off that the beginning and switching the email toggle on an off fixed the issue. Now I get emails when the 12v is disconnected from the apex.

Don't forget that your router and other network equipment need to be on a UPS as well in order to get an email from Apex in the event of a real power outage.
