    Finnex Titanium Heater & apex

I have a Finnex 800 Titanium Heater and I just set up my Apex system. Well come to find out what I thought was my Apex system not being calibrated enough on temp was actually the Finnex heater being way off. The Finnex heater I have is the 2 part system where the heater has to plug? into the Finnex controller. My question is can I bypass the finnex controller and plug the heater directly into the apex and use the Apex combined with the temp probe to control my temp?

Use the finnex controller as an OH s@%t backup just set it's temp to whatever would be a couple degrees above what the apex will heat to.

So my apex says it's like 76 and the finnex says it's 79, turn the finnex up to like 81 to get temp on apex to 78 right?

Yeah. And that will provide a failsafe in the unlikely but possible event that the apex outlet on the eb8 fails in the on position or gets manually changed to on my accident.

Didn't look close enough. Set the finnex to 83. That will keep the tank below 80 if something fails on the apex side and keep your tank from cooking.

The Finnex controllers state on the box and I confirmed with Finnex that the controllers have a +,- 2 degree swing. I have two Finnex controllers that are both off by 2 degrees.

Why wouldn't you use the finnex controller as the main and the apex as failsafe? Also how would you program this

Program your finnex to be a degree or 2 above the apex. Replace X in the code with the temp you want and the Temp_1 with your temp probe name.

    Fallback ON
    If Temp_1 < X Then ON
    If Temp_1 > X Then OFF
    Defer 000:10 Then ON

You need to download and read the comprehensive manual. https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/docs/
