    AqLink A1 and cp40

I Have a CP40 gyre style pump on my tank and Just discovered the AQLink a1 can connect it to the apex. Before I order it had anyone set this up with the apex?

    How would

About programming pulses and waves via the 10v port. Would is the ocs cycle type mode?

Waves are done using the "pump" type profile

Okay so you can pulse it and change direction. Can you control the speed as well?

Yes. You change direction with the second channel and the intensity with the first channel (I might have that backwards). To make waves, set your desired direction with the second channel and in the first channel use a pump profile that pulses between 0 and your desired intensity with a relatively short interval (depends on tank size, but is usually in the range of 0.2 to 0.6 seconds on and the same time off).

Thanks zombie! So it sounds like the basic are there. May be worth getting one. I really just want an automated way to clear off the surface build up. With the gyre on the overflow wall. A small protein layer build up at the far end over time

I have a pair of AQLink A1's and CP40's currently. I cannot get the pumps working when connected to the AQLink/Apex.

Zombie: Do you have this set up? Is there any chance of posting an idiots guide please as I just can't figure out what the issue is.

I don't own one personally, but I've helped quite a few people with ice cap programming, which is basically the same thing. Start a new thread with what you want to happen, what your current code is, and what you are seeing and I can probably figure out why it isn't working.

The A1 I bought to interface between the Jebao pump and the Apex 10V failed within about an hour.

I bought the Reef Octopus VarioS to replace this setup as my primary pump and have not looked back. The Jebao is plumbed in as the automatic back up.

    Your mileage may vary.

Sounds promising. How do you have yours programmed. Just pulse mode

Slow constant flow at night and pulse mode for the day at the moment. I'll do a ramp or surge program also, but need to expand the Apex to get more VarSpd ports first

Don't you just need one port for the A1?

Any chance you want to share your programming ? I may order one

You need 2 ports if you want to control direction. If you will always run the pump forward only 1 channel is really needed.

    I'll trust you on it
I haven't yet had a use for the V1/2 and v3/4 ports on the classic so I have free ones!

I just haven't seen anyone setup the a1 yet so was hesitant

What would the code look like for a program for pulsing?

You would call out a pump type profile with min max intensity and duration set to your own preference. Look for jebao or tunze programming examples to get an idea how the intensity channel might look. The direction channel is just ON for forward and off for reverse.
