As some of you have become aware over the last couple of days there is presently a compatibility issue with GMX email server and the Apex controller. With the current firmware release (4.2_1B13), GMX is not accepting emails from the Apex Aqua-controllers. We understand that email and text message alerts are a core reason many of you have purchased an Apex system. We have been recommending using the GMX service for many years, pre-Apex even, and this matter was fairly unexpected.

With the recent matter of GMX blocking Apex controller emails, which has been completely out of Neptune Systems' control, we strongly suggest that you look into setting up your email configuration with your ISP email if it will support a non-SSL encryption. Many ISPs SMTP servers are compatible with these type of emails. Some are not. To find out if your ISP is compatible, we suggest that you Google, "SMTP Settings for 'Insert your ISP.'" If your ISP's SMTP server works on port 587 or 25, then likely it is compatible. An additional challenge is many of users often do not use their email address provided by the ISP. So you may need to contact them for assistance. For a basic break down of the settings:

Smpt server : SMTP ISP
Port: 587
From: ISP email address
To:Your email address
Alt-to: another email address
Email authentication enabled/disabled (check ISP settings)
Email delay: 60
user name: ISP email address
password: ISP email address PW

With all that being said, we have released a work-around firmware that at present will be compatible with your current GMX configuration. The release is 4.2_8A13 and can be downloaded at the following URLs:

4.2_8A13 for PC
