    Power lose

If the power to the energy bar is lost, does that mean all devices plugged into the energy bar also loose power. I new to controllers and am just working out if I loose resilience by using a controller rather than individual power connections e.g. the fuse blows in the energy bar plug blows, I loose the heater, circulation from the pumps, lights etc.

Yes, its an issue. The vulnerability is applicable to all power strips, not just the energy bar. The way to add resiliency is to split the aquarium loads across multiple energy bars across several outlets/circuits/GFCI's. I use 5 energy bars on my tank.

Wow 5, that must have cost a fortune but seriously resilient. Thanks for the info.

LOL, yes and no. I prefer to use EB4's over EB8's, so they cost a little less. But I have every plugged into the Apex so I can monitor power usage.

5 is a bit overkill but is indeed resilient as heck. The easiest way to provide redundancy is to use 2 energy bars and have each one on a seperate circuit in your house. Split your loads between the two so that there is at least one heater and one powerhead on each energy bar so that if one trips for any reason the tanks basic life support of heat and flow is still there until you can get to the tank and fix the problem.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.

It comes to the way I build my cabinet and positioned the energy bars. I have an EB4 dedicated to lighting, another dedicated to heaters, an EB8 dedicated sump equipment, 2 EB4s for dosing equipment and 1 EB4 dedicated to the return pump. It is as much wire management, power monitoring and resiliency.
