Should I be concerned updating firmware?

    Hello all!

I work in IT, and I'm responsible for updating firmware on computers, printers, network hardware, etc. I know that whenever I do something like this there is a chance that it will never boot again. I've lost a handful of printers, a couple routers, and a handful of computers this way.

Most of the newer computers have dual bios chips so you can always go back. What about the APEX? I have the pre 2016 version. Does it have any fail safe? Is there a risk that it may brick?

I would really like to use one of the new commands available in the new firmware but if it were to die I'd have no way to run my tank and I have no backup. Do I have reason to be concerned?

    Thank you!
    Whiskey

You can revert back to older firmware if you encounter problems (though these are very rare. I have had to do this twice on beta firmwares and never on public release) The procedure I use to make reverting easy if needed is to save every firmware I have ever downloaded and before each firmware update I save the config and screenshot the module addresses. Makes it very easy to restore or revert back if it ever needs it.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.
