Is an Energy Bar a controller?

I am in the process of buying an Apex Jr, but it is not available at the moment, but the Energy bar 4 is.
If I attach a heat sensor to the energy bar,(and other modules) will it work as a controller just like an Apex Jr without a screen? or is the energy Bar laking other things included in the Jr?

Energy bar needs to be plugged into a "brain" like the jr, lite, classic, or 2016 apex to function.
