Anyone have issues where you have to constantly clean the optical sensor or it won't sense there is no water on it?

I have only seen that problem posted for those using it mounted vertically in a Kalk reservoir.

I do top off with kalk how should I mount it? Do I need to move the top off wire to another location?
Either horizontally or facing down.

It's standard mounting magnet of the atk. It's mounted horizontally.
Oh. I thought you meant in the reservoir. If that needs cleaning regularly, then one of two things (or both) is happening that you need to address.
1. The float valve is not set correctly and is causing it to spray. Adjust the float if that's the case.
2. Your PMUP is pumping up precipitated Kalk, which you don't want in your tank, pump, or lines (makes a horrible mess everywhere). Place the PMUP 1-2" off the bottom of the reservoir (egg crate works well for this).

How could we fix the float from spraying? How's it suppose to let water out?
Adjust it to be fully closed at a higher tank level. The float should trickle without spraying at normal levels, spray a little bit near the high sensor and shut flow completely about a half inch above the high sensor.
