What is a virtual outlet and how are they set up?

I just plugged in my Neptune AFS. To program it so that my pumps and skimmer turn off prior to feeding it says to set up a virtual outlet. I am not at all familiar with how to set up a virtual outlet and the videos I've watched so far seem to be for Apex classic and not Apex 2016. What in the world is a virtual outlet and how do I set it up? I want to set up a feeding program that shuts everything off before I feed, feed, and then restart delaying the skimmer a few minutes till last.

Virtual outlet can be created in the outlet tab. In the outlet tab you will see an icon on the top right corner that is an outlet with a cloud on the background.

Click on it and you will have an option to create a virtual outlet.

Give it a name and enter you code.

Then, in your dashboard, you will have a new tile notification. Add the new tile to your dashboard and set it to auto.

So when I create a virtual outlet, nothing is plugged into it. The system recognizes it as if there was a module or something plugged into it and based on the code I right, acts on it?

Exact. But in your afs outlet, you need to have a code that refer to it. So it see which state it is in and reacting to it ex:

[ virtual outlet ]

Name: Fish_eat

Set Off
If time 18:00 to 18:05 Then ON

[Main outlet]

Name: AFS

Set OFF
If Output Fish_eat = ON then On
......


So, the afs outlet evaluate the state of the virtual outlet ( which is on from 18:00 To 18:05 and of the rest of the time.

If it is ON, it will turn ON else it will be OFF

I would use a Feed button rather than set up a VO. Both would operate the same on either the 2016 or the classic units. Check out the reference manual for info and examples of both the Feed buttons and VOs.
