PMUP while using Kalk in ATO

Any 1 have any experience with this pump while running kalk in ur ato??
I purchase my first PMUP about 6-7 months ago i started using kalk in my ato and on the second fill my PMUP was shot. Since it was still under warranty i contacted BRS and his great customer service and they send me a new PMUP
Well this 1 didnt even past the whole kalk ato container (20gl).
Is there a trick to do to the pmup or it simply doent last when using kalk?

No personal experience, but I’ve seen several reports/reviews describing premature failures of PMUP pumps with kalkwasser. Kalk is hard on pumps and the PMUP isn’t the only one to have issues. I don’t know if a maxi jet would do any better or not. From what others have posted the best solution is to use a peristaltic pump, but as I said I don’t have any personal experience with kalk, so I’m just relaying what I’ve read.

I would use a fine mesh filter bag as a filter. The siphon break can get clogged very easily with saturated Kalk particles.

PMUP while using Kalk in ATO

Sleepy - I am going to answer both questions about the PMUP in this thread. I made a small acrylic box slightly larger than the PMUP, with 3 1/4”holes in each side, and with 2 sides a little longer on bottom to keep the PMUP about 1/2 off the bottom of the ATO. This keeps the settled Kalk from being sucked into the PMUP and it only draws in saturated ATO water and keeps it upright. I also put a strip of silicon padding on the bottom of the box feet and between the PMUP and box wall to minimize vibration noise.
I like zombie’s idea with the mess bag and think I will put the box inside a mesh bag for extra protection.
