Float Switch/Breakout Box Protein Skimmer help

Hi--so I drilled the collection cup lid and attached the float switch (see below). It was rubbing-up against the sides of the skimmer, so I shaved it down with a dremel. Now that the switch itself is about 1/2 it's original size and is not touching anything, it STILL won't activate when the water level in the collection cup gets to the top of the cup.

Any suggestions? It's driving me crazy!

    Hi Jeff,

Can you verify that the switch is showing open/close and changing when you physically move the switch up and down? It's hard to tell from your post whether or not you are having issues more with the physical switch itself or the programming aspect here. If you could start by letting us know if you can identify that the switch is working by an indication of your input/switch tile that would be helpful.

If it is activting manually there is no reason that it shouldn't activate when installed.

is it skimmer foam that is reaching the float and hence it is not raising?

are you watching the auto action in the skimmer cup in fusion? Fusion takes about 45 seconds to refresh the screen, but the float could be actually activated.

By default, those float switches are meant to be installed with the mounting flange up and are CLOSED when the float is up. You have yours mounted upside down, therefore the switch will be OPEN when floating. To reverse it, you need to flip the float portion. To do so, remove the little clip at the bottom. Remove the float, flip it 180 degrees, and re-assemble.

Your programming looks ok. All you need to do is to make sure when the float is up(full skimmer cup) that your switch tile shows open. You said that when you manually move it, it will close/open. If you are seeing this then it is working correctly and you don't need to flip anything around etc.

Can you go into the inputs/probe menu and try changing the switch name from "Swx6_1" to something like "Skim_ful". Then double check the skimmer outlet programming box to see that it changed there as well and retest.
