    WAV pump knocking sound

One of my two WAV's is experiencing a very rapid knocking noise. I would not call this noise a vibration, its more of a very fast knocking noise. The second one is very quiet. Any thoughts on what this may be?

What mode does the sound occur? Pipeline can cause a noise like that if set to a short interval. Otherwise I would suggest trying a good cleaning.

I reported this a long time ago... But when mine turn on and off the make a load knock sound. I emailed Neptune and they say it is normal. None of the other high end power heads do this in fact the cheap Jeabo pumps don't do it... I have been extremely disappointed in these since I bought them loud on and off, way too much power.. I really wish I would have bought some MP40s.

Here is a video I made back in May 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHRziMHiYZQ

Check the wet mounts. There should be rubber mounts in the corners.

I got all my rubber parts... its the pump. When it stops it like someone jamming on the brakes. I also only have them running at 1% and they still make this sound.

Put something between the wire and the tank where the wire rests on it. Like a sponge or a rubber/silicone mat. Just to make sure it’s not the wire.

Thanks for the responses but your not getting it. Do you own WAV pumps? If so are you telling me that if you put your in PIPELINE that they don't make a sound?

I have 2 WAVs. Do they make a noise in pipeline. Yes. The noise was also reduced when I made sure the wire was not knocking the tank as it stopped which is y I suggested it.

I also have MP40s. Do they make noise in pulse mode? Yes.

I also noticed this when using Pipeline mode. Pulse mode seems almost the same, just that rather than the pump alternating between the set level and fully off, in Pulse mode it alternates between the set level and 1%.

They even warn about Pipeline mode noise in the descriptions of the modes:

Great input. Cleaned the fan and relocated the wire. Not sure which one did it but the noise stopped. I'm thinking it was the wire contacting the tank frame. An additional question: Does the WAV pump require cleaning inside the motor housing? Don't see any way to open it and have not found any instruction on the internet.
