    Decalcifying a PMUP

PMUP has been in my sump on a fairly heavy duty cycle (on for 20 mins an hour) to keep fresh flow into a refugium. It’s worked like a champ for six months but today stopped dead. I am assuming the rotor is calcified (as happened on my VarioS). Any tips or tricks to decalcify a PMUP?

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.

Well, no. After a 24 hour soak, nothing. So I opened it up. See pic. The impeller is a rather flimsy arrangement and 3 of 7 blades are sheared off at the root. After removing the blades the shaft still will not turn but that is now a moot point. This was a six month old PMUP that I use a lot for moving water around and to help with water changes so will need another ASAP. I wonder if Neptune would replace this one under warranty?

Give it a try. Unless their is proof of physical damage from a snail getting in (not oossible if this was only used in ato lol) I would expect they would. Make sure to update us with!
