The operation of the APEX (2016) reset button has changed beginning with AOS 5.03_CA17. It is no longer necessary to count the number of seconds that the button is held depressed; instead, the status LED color will change when the reset button has been held down long enough to either reset the Wi-Fi settings or to reset the entire Apex to factory settings.
In APEX (2016) AOS versions up to an including 5.03_AC17, the reset button worked like this:
- To reboot the Apex controller press the button quickly.
- To put the Apex into WiFi access mode press and hold the button for 10 seconds.
- To initialize the Apex to factory settings press and hold the button for at least 60 seconds.
The reset button operation in AOS 5.03_CA17 and later is now:
To reboot the Apex controller
- Press then release the reset button quickly [this is unchanged]
To put the Apex into WiFi setup mode, aka "Blue mode"
- Disconnect the network cable if one is connected.
- Press and hold the reset button until the status LED changes to BLUE (about 6 seconds), then release the reset button.
To initialize the Apex to factory settings
- Press and hold the button until the status LED turns RED (about 30 seconds), then release the reset button.
