So soon enough I am going to add soda lime (dry) to increase the PH in my 90 gal tank. Essentially I am going to split the intake hose into the protein skimmer with A Y/T quick connecter with either a 3/8 or 1/4 tubing that will connect to the media container.
I am going to use the solenoid valve to cap the PH at 8.3
Please note that it will still have air coming in from the air intake regardless of whether the valve is on or not.
So here is the question-
Do I use the valve on the “outside” that allows air into the media container. Advantage is that when the media is not needed (if PH>8.3) -it doesn’t have air coming in and using up media unnecessarily.
Or do I use it on the “inside” between the media container and the connector.
The disadvantage I see here is that the valve only has 1/4” opening that may not be optimal.
Not sure if anyone has experimented with CO2 media and the valves.
Thanks
