    AWC with single DOS head?

I don't own a DOS so this is pure speculation as to how they work, but I'm just wondering if this would be an option

Would it be possible to use a single DOS head for water changes? I'm thinking the that input side of the DOS would have a Y adapter where one side went to the drain and the other side was connected to new saltwater. Both hoses from the Y would have solenoids. When it needed to drain some, the solenoid to the drain would be open and the solenoid to the NSW would be closed and the DOS head would be running in reverse to pull water from the tank. Then, it would switch the solenoids and run forward to pull water from the NSW into the tank. The ATO would be off during
this time to make sure that top off water isn't added while the level falls in the sump during the drain process...

That would not be a good idea and would be fairly expensive since the solenoids would need to be corrosive rated and airtight when closed, which are not cheap (likely in the 200-300 dollar range). Theoretically it is possible, but not worth the hassle or cost.

Nope. Those are airtight but Im fairly sure they arent rated for saltwater (their intended use is for RODI or CO2) because I've heard reports of them starting to leak and not fully close when used with saltwater (could just be a fluke but could also mean it uses a stainless plunger).
