    Heat Exchanger Program

    Hello,
I have a coil heat exchanger sitting in the sump. Hot water recirculates (via recirc pump) through the heat exchanger as needed to heat the tank. I would like to create a program such that if the recirc pump turns on based on temperature setting, turn off after a fixed amount of time. I do not want it to turn off based on temperature.

This will minimize the overshoot and save some electricity.

    Thanks

A simple way would be to use the OSC command to define a regular cycle, and then override it if heat is not needed:

    HEAT_EX

    Fallback OFF
    OSC 000:00/010:00/050:00 Then ON
If Temp > 79.0 then OFF

I used arbitrary values, but this would turn on the HX for 10 minutes out of every hour. However, if the temp is greater than 79 degrees, it would stay OFF.

I would add to the code above

    Min Time 010:00 Then OFF

This way you eliminate the chance of it bouncing quickly between ON and OFF If you're right on the edge of that temp.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.
