I've been setting up a new tank with a new 2016 Apex over the last week, with a very similar configuration to my first Apex-controlled tank. I got the ADM display module right away, hooked it up, adjusted the day and night time hours, brightness, and contrast setting. Everything was fine.
Yesterday, I went to increase the contrast a bit, and found that, now, whenever you try to access the contrast adjustment or either brightness adjustment setting, a blank display appears, none of the buttons function, and after about 10 seconds, the Apex reboots. Tried it a couple of times and the problem persists. I have also tried:
Unplugging the module and plugging it back in.
Unplugging the module, rebooting the Apex, and plugging it back in.
Updating the ADM firmware, several times (I had already updated it to version 11 (OK) when I first installed it.)
I have not tried deleting the module and re-initiating it. I remember some comments on here that this could be a dangerous thing to do.
All of the other display functions seem to be working fine. I can access other pages without problem.
So, has anyone seen this before? Any thoughts on how to fix it?
Is it likely firmware or hardware? (The fact that it is just effecting the brightness and contrast controls, which are probably handled entirely by the module itself, makes me suspicious of a hardware problem.)
Should I try deleting the module? Is this still a dangerous thing to do on a 2016 Apex with current firmware? As I said, this is a new system without livestock yet, so I'm willing to try some riskier fixes, but I don't want to render the whole system inoperable if I can help it.
