    Salininty Probe Reading High

    Hi All,

My name is dean and i have just joined the forum after buying my Apex recently.
It took me a few attempts to calibrate the salinity probe, but in the end i got there and it was reading 35 ppt in my tank and i was happy.
However, the salinity reading has been increasing steadily day after day. Please take alook at the the attached picture.
Its now tripping the apex alarm because it now 'apparently' at 38.5.
Now that i am writing this, i have just remembered that i have been slowly increasing the temp during this same period because the apex indicated that it was to low at 74.6, and so have been slowly increasing it to my goal of 78.

I assume this accounts for the salinity rise?
If so, what do you think i should do, add more RO?

Any advice would be great, so thank you.

That is normal for a new probe. Mine took 4 days to fully "settle in" before readings stabilized. Wait until the readings stabilize and then recalibrate.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.

The salinity reading will also rise when you raise the temp if you have temperature compensation turned off (default). If you plan to keep the temp at a steady 78, just recalibrate once you get the tank there. If you are going to have a variable temperature you'll need to turn on compinstation and recalibrate.
