how to properly calibrate the salinity and ph probe?

i just bought the neptune apex 2016 uk version.
ive read that i dont need to calibrate the temp and orp probes.

how about the salinity and ph. how do i properly calibrte it?
do i leave the fluid packets in the sump for 30 minutes?

and the rest follow the instructions from the manual?

is there anything else i should know thats not in the manual?
    thanks

Yes, float for 30 minutes. Conductivity is a little picky, so I will give you some tips for that.

    - Let it soak in your sump until the reading stabilizes (1-7 days) before calibrating.

    - Enable temp compensation at 2.2 before calibration.

    - Only do manual calibration.

    - For the dry step, rinse off in RODI and pad dry with a paper towel.

    - For the wet step, make sure the packet has been floated for 30 minutes and use a magnet, chip clip, etc to keep it touching water while settling.

By this, it means that i should set up and power on the apex but wait until the reading of the probes stabilize and them calibrate?

And what do you mean by manual calibration

You can do the pH right away. The cond probe I would set in its mount and just keep an eye on the graph to see when it's stabalized. Alternatively you can just stick it in saltwater for a few days if your apex isn't gonna be on for whatever reason.

There are two options in the interface for calibration AUTO and MANUAL. AUTO self detects when the values have "settled" and tells you when to dp the next step. AUTO often works well for pH but not 100% of the time. AUTO does not work very well for conductivity. I do all of mine manually and just let them sit for 5 minutes in each solution.

Why is it that while in the ph calibration solution the probe isn't showing the right reading. I've had the probe in the 10 pouch for 30 min. Probe reads 9.8. Can I manually change it?

The number shown on the screen is irrelevant while calibrating as long as it has settled (ie it has stayed steady on a particular number). What matters is that after you complete the calibration, the probe reads 7 and 10 in the respective solutions. If that doesn't match than recalibrate.

Yes it reads incorrect after finished calibrating and still in the 10 solution. I'll try again lol. This should be easier
