    ORP Calibration fluid

I’ve looked on several posts and this one:

    Quick question. I'm a noob
    https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?sha...9&share_type=t

was the only one where I could find something about where to obtain the ORP calibration fluid, but at about $82. Do these come in single packets like the other cal. fluids?

No. ORP requires an expensive component quinhydron mixed with pH buffer standards mixed to saturation to calibrate. Unless you are using ozone, there is no reason to calibrate.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.

So is there any reason to run the probe if it’s not calibrated?

Yes. The relative changes from "normal" values once it has settled can indicate things like a fish died, you need to do more water changes or more often etc.

When it comes to ORP, the trend (change over time) is more important that the absolute measurement.

Alright, thanks for the input. I’ll do some more research on it.
