    Neptune Solenoid

    Hello
I have a 50 gallon container for auto top off. I have a float switch on top with a float valve for redundancy and a bottom float switch. They will trigger the solenoid to turn on and off. My question is the Solenoid will stay open for hours to fill the container, do you see any issue with this? Or should i have it OSC for 20 mintues on and off for it can take breaks cooling off.

You could, but finding that sweet spot for maximum solenoid life would be hard. Prolonged heating causes some damage, but so does a start operation. Whay amount of heating damage equates to start damage is nearly impossible to know. These are supposed to be rated for continuous duty I believe, so personally I would just avoid the OSC.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.
