    Salt Probe Failure

I purchased a new Apex recently and have a problem with the Salinity probe. Every once in a while it stops reading and displays zero. At first it wasn’t for long just a few hours but it did it again on Friday and has not return to reading anything still zero.

Anyone who whats wrong or what or what I can do?

The connector is probably loose or corroded or potentially the probe is beginning to give out. Give everything a thorough cleaning including the connector and then reseat everything (you will likely need to recalibrate after as well).

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.

I just purchased this Apex a little over 6 weeks ago. Why would the probe be giving out? I’ll check the connector to make sure it’s plugged in well.

    Thanks

Weird I check the plug and it was a little bit unplugged, maybe not enough slack when I folded the controller down. Thanks for the reply I had not thought of checking the plug.

Those are Twist On BNC connectors, be sure to make sure they are rotated and locked, not just pushed on. Once they are fully engaged, it is highly unlikely they would be disconnected.

It’s just the salinity plug that came loose. Yes just a push type connector.

    thanks

    Oh, I’m a bonehead!

I totally spaced it is a RJ style connector.

    Glad it is working now.
