    Heater 'Stuck' in on position

I have a 'Schego' heater controlled by my Apex. Everything has been fine since install around 18 months ago.
    These are my settings

    Fallback OFF
If TEMP < 26.0 Then ON
If TEMP > 27.0 Then OFF

Its in the outlet 4.5 of a 6 bar setup (im in the UK)
It went up to 32 yesterday evening and I have lost fish & corals.

Did a reset and checked all but its still exceeding 27 gradually and does not turn off.

    Any assistance greatly appreciated

Sorry to hear you lost livestock.

Have you tried the heater in a different outlet?
Maybe the relay for that outlet is bad.

Another thing you can do is turn logging on for that outlet and see that Apex is trying to turn it off at your set temp.

    Thanks for your response
I have tried another outlet but with the same result. The 'Log' is enabled but how do you check to see if Apex is trying to turn it off?

Setting a Temp alarm is also a good idea.

If Temp < 27.2 Then On

This will alert you of the temp getting too high before it causes problems.

Again, I appreciate your response. In the Output Log in Apex Fusion there is a sequence of 'OFF' & 'ON'. The latest is just over 45 minutes ago when its in the 'OFF' state but why am I seeing the small orange 'ON' sign on the tiled display plus the temperature is increasing?? Main tile is set to 'AUTO'

This should use a greater than sign (>)

Yes, just sent myself a test email to make sure was configured correctly.
Its still 27.3..no email warning and the output log is showing 'OFF' so I would have thought the temperature would have decreased slightly? Also do you know why the orange 'On' indicator is on the tile...now 27.4 as I write

Is there an indicator light in the heater and if so is it on?

Can you post a screen shot of the outlet programming?

Everything looks right except the output showing on. The log shows the unit turning off that output almost immediately after turning it on.

What about the indicator light on the heater itself and/or trying another heater?

Does the heater have it's own thermostat and have you restarted the Apex.

The heater could be bad or the relay could be sticking. @RussM

    Look in your inputs page.

Do you have another input with the same name?

Do you have another outlet with the same name?

The heater has no thermostat or indicator. Its a titanium model by Schego. It currently feels hot to the touch

We all want our Apex to be the be all end all for controlling our tanks but you really need to have redundancies setup for critical components. With heaters, if they don't come with their own thermostat you should add one and set it slightly higher than the Apex. This way if something goes wrong the thermostat will shutdown the heater.

Have you restarted the Apex yet?

    Email outlet programming?

Try renaming that probe and changing the programming to match then restarting the Apex.

Yes, restarted but noticed the green 'Status' lights did not go out. did a hard reset by removing plugs from 1 link and Apex

How does that help with the heater without a thermostat?

In the Apex classic page I have 2 Probe/Input One is 'TEMP-tmp' one is 'TEMP - TmpX5 and the other is 'TEMP_Flo_6

Email alert is set as 'If TEMP (is greater to) 27.2 Then ON' and the tile is set to Auto

So the answer to my previous question was yes.

You have 2 inputs named TEMP.

Where is your temp probe connected to?

Change the other one to something else.

    Have you tried this above?

If you plug something else into that outlet like a simple light and set it manually on and off (not auto) and the light turns on and off then there's nothing wrong with the relay in the EB.

After trying the above recommendation and there's still a problem and you know the relay is good then there must be some corruption in the base. Have you added anything new or done any different programming before this started?

The way to correct corruption is to factory reset by memory init all in misc settings, reflash the firmware & webpages and then reprogramming everything from scratch. This should be a last resort. You should start a ticket with Neptune immediately.

Lastly do you have a backup heater with a thermostat? If not do you have a local reefer friend that can loan you one?

*EDIT* Cross post. I see you have two probes named temp...
