    Question Cobalt Neo-Therm Heater - 150W (drawing 184W)

Why would my Cobalt Neo-Therm Heater - 150W be showing on my apex 184W to 190w when it on

I have 2 of them and both are the same

I just saw this on https://www.cobaltaquatics.com/colle...nt=23943146503

APEX users: Please be sure to plug your Neo-Therm into plug 4 or 8.

    Why is this???

Heaters are constant resistance devices, so power use can fluctuate depending on what the wall voltage is.

I see no reason to plug a neotherm in outlet 4 or 8. Those should be reserved for low wattage magnetic devices (like pumps) or high amperage devices (above 4A). Not that would only be applicable for classic apex as all the outlets are the same on a eb832.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life and can prove it mathematically.

You should exercise your Google-fu and learn why Cobalt makes that warning.

I did. A reason was never stated other than it originally came from Neptune to cobalt in my 5 min Google search. Perhaps you could enlighten us.

The electronics do not play nice with TRIACs; they create interference which causes erratic amps readings and inconsistent operation of the heater. There's a thread somewhere on RC from a few years back that has discussion about this.
