Running return/skimmer pumps from 1 link ACC ports

    Hi everyone,

First post on here as I have been having a think and was wondering whether or not you could use the correct connector to power two 24v DC pumps from the spare ACC ports on a 1 link control box?

Simply just wanting on and off power supply to then use the built in controllers of the pumps like a reef octopus vario-s or jebao etc

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks

Much easier and more control if you just buy the varios cable and plug the power supply into the wall. If you go jebao, get an aqualinkA1 and then the apex can be the controller.

Thanks for your info and totally understand what you are saying, I was just thinking that it would mean less cables and power bricks if you used the ACC ports for just the power to the pumps?

You could then use the necessary adapters for each pump also?

Would that be correct or not?

It's possible to do that but not advisable. The extra wattage from the skimmer and return will cut into the 100W available for 1link devices. There is also the issue that if the return is significantly large (40+ watts), then a clog or stall in the return can cause enough voltage drop in the 24V power supply that it will also shut down anything you have in the 1link ports.

Thanks for clearing this up. I guess the ACC ports are for smaller items like fans etc instead.
