Why 4.00 and why not 10 ?
In salt water... 4.00 is not important ?

Use 7 & 10 fluids for calibration when the pH probe will be used for normal use in saltwater, where the pH is above 7.
Use 4 & 7 when the pH probe will be used to measure the pH in a calcium reactor, where the pH is usually below 7.

If you only have 4.01 packet, it will be somewhat inaccurate but it can work in a pinch to get it in the rough ballpark.
If you mean your apex only has the option for 4 and 7, you are doing something wrong. Select 7.01 for the first step and 10.01 for the second.
