    Looking for lighting recommendation

Can anyone recommend descent lighting that can be controlled by Apex for a 1200 gallon FOWLR tank. Dimensions are 144”x50”x37.5”
Someone suggested I use 5 Aquailluminations fiftytwo HD LEDS but that seamed overkill to me since it is not a reef tank with corals.

Are you looking for dimming and color adjustment control or just on/off?

You would need at least 4 LEDs with the size and spread of a 52. 3'×3' is the max they can spread if you keep them at least a foot above the water surface. There are much cheaper options though such as 4 kessil a360w or 4 used AI SOL that would still provide more than adequate lighting and control.

Dimming and color adjustments would be nice, if possible but really just want good lighting that will cover the whole tank evenly and bring out the colors of the fish.

So maybe the fiftytwo’s are the right light for this application? Anything else that would do the trick but a little less expensive? The fiftytwos are about $600 per light

    Canopy or open top?

I would probably throw some T5s over it if it were me.

+1 For Kessil A360WE (or wait for the X)

I'd do 5 or 6 of them, typically every 24-32 inches. I have 3 over my 6' tank and its about perfect.

I run two AI Vega Colors over my 90 gallon mixed reef and love them. It's a whole lot cooler and cheaper then the 2 250w MH bulbs (plus T5 Atinics) I used to run. Best of all they work great with the Apex.
