GMX Announcement: Neptune Systems can no longer recommend GMX in any way!

I regret to inform our users that in the last 24 hours, the GMX email service has again changed their message receiving protocols and is no longer a valid SMTP server for the Apex System. We understand that email and text message alerts are a core reason many of you have purchased an Apex system. With this second change in message protocols in such a short time frame, we can no longer recommend GMX in any way as a free SMTP server option for text and email message alerts.

At present, you have two main recourses to rectify this matter:
    1. Use your ISP <<Internet Service Provider - you know, the company you pay to access the internet (Comcast, At&t, etc.>> email address if they have a non-SSL SMTP server (preferred, most reliable). Most do give their customers this feature.
    2. Use another <<limited>> free service that has shown to work very well for many users in the last couple of months, SMTP2GO.com

To configure your Apex to work with your ISPs SMTP server you may need to contact your ISP.
The Apex Comprehensive Reference Manual (ACRM) has a list of several North American ISPs whose email systems are known to work with the Apex (and AC3/AC3pro) and the specific settings to use for those ISP. Check ACRM page 22 to see if your ISP is listed. (Ignore the entry for GMX of course – we will get that entry removed).

To help collect the appropriate network settings for the variety of ISPs out there, Neptune Systems will:
    1. Create a sticky in the Networking Subsection of the Neptune Systems Forum here. Here users can report the network settings they are using to send emails using their ISP SMTP settings
    a. Here other users will verify if these settings are working for them as well
2.As these settings become verified they will be posted in this thread
    a. Users can be confident they are using the correct SMPT settings in the verified thread.

    Then configure your Apex settings:
    SMTP server: SMTP ISP
Port: 587 (some ISPs might use another port, port 465 will not work)
    From: ISP email address
    To: Your email
    Alt-to: another email address
Email authentication enabled/disabled (most will be enabled)
    Email delay: 60
    user name: ISP email address
    password: ISP email address PW

You will likely need to confirm what your ISP email and login information is if you do not use that address normally.

Another alternative service is SMTP2GO.com. The free version of this is limited to 20 emails a day. If you use a “To” and an “Alt-to,” then you will be limited to 10 emails a day. The settings for this are:

    To set this up:
    1. First go to SMTP2go.com
    2. Set up an account
    3. Verify It
    4. Then configure your Apex settings as:
    SMTP server: smtpcorp.com
    Port: 2525
    From: SMTP2GO email
    To: Your email
    Alt-to: another email address
    Email authentication enabled
    Email delay: 60
    user name: SMTP2GO username
    password: SMTP2GO password.

If you continue to have trouble, then please take a look at the email debugging tool described on page 22 and 23 of, "The Comprehensive Reference Manual." Email Neptune Systems support at [email protected] or use the resources here on the forum to trouble shoot the matter.

We can certainly understand your frustration in these matters. With the pending release of Apex Fusion there will be a permanent, working option from Neptune Systems. We appreciate your use of our product and very much appreciate your understanding in these matters.
