    DOS for AWC in Basement

Hi, just wondering if anyone is using an inline check valve on their DOS tubing?

I'm setting up for AWC and have the DOS unit in the basement on a wall. I have tubing coming from my sump upstairs into the DOS pump 1 and then out to a waste PVC pipe via a saddle in the basement ceiling. The other tubing is in my Saltwater Reservoir and goes through pump 2 and then up to my sump. I can keep the new saltwater tubing above the water line in the sump but what about the waste water which has to be submerged. I thought I had read somewhere that the DOS pump had a built in antisiphon but the instructions make a big deal about failure, etc. Should I include a check valve on the waste water tubing leaving the DOS in the basement?

    Thanks for you help!

Check valves are easy and cheap (kinda). As far as the DOS, did you download the DOS Setup guide? It may have the answer you need.

Hi, yes I did hence my question. The guide warns about submerging your line if it’s above the Dos. “ in certain failure situations...”

For automatic water changes, there is no way not to submerge the water removal line. I’m just not sure if a check valve will restrict the flow.

A check valve does not help. The head itself prevents siphon.

Is your Apex in the basement as well? Or did you use some long extensions to plug into the eb8?

I have a long aqua bus cable that goes from my apex in the aquarium stand down to the DOS in the Basement
