Why no 0-10V on the EL?

If you look closer, the EL is nearly identical to the 2016 layout except they removed the bottom board, which had the varspd, cond, and second pH port. Makes perfect sense to me from a design perspective and it probably would have cost closer to $600 than $500 if they kept the varspd since they would have needed an extra board.

Agree 100%, would have been $100-ish more for everybody, or just buy the VDM Module ($99.95 at BRS) for those who want/need it.
