    Recommended WAV pump cleaning?

How do folks clean their WAV pumps? is Vinegar recommended? Safe? What does the acid do to the plastic over time? Any O rings or seals I need to be aware of or need greasing after a cleaning?

This will be my first time to clean the pump. Any tips are appreciated.

First, get one of the 3-D printed tools (details on a thread here) for taking out the impeller. Makes things much easier. I usually use a toothbrush for general cleaning. Occasionally I'll do a 50% vinegar soak for removing coraline buildup.

I clean every 2/3 month with a muriatic acid solution (1:10) for 30m then a gentle brush. Good as new ...

Ahhhh and yes. the 3D tool is sooooooooo handy!

I now have the pump soaking but could not figure out how to remove the impeller. I'll look into that. Can it be removed without the tool?

You can also use the handle of a pliers. You have the impeller ears between the two pliers handles and below the blades. You can use it to put simultaneous torque on the two impeller ears. That is how I removed them before getting one of the tools. Of course I also slipped once and broke a blade off an impeller.

Once I learned it rotated counter clockwise, I used pliers and it came right out. Very easy.
