How does the FMM tell what sensors (leak, flow, optical) are connected?

My Apex (2016 Wifi version) sees 2 of my 4 OS-1-M Optical sensors as flow sensors.

    All modules have latest firmware.

How does the FMM tell what sensors (leak, flow, optical) are connected? Programming? Or it is auto detected? In this case, do I have a bad sensor?

I am going to move them around next but I want to see if anyone has any experience.

By default the type of sensor is automatically detected. Check that the 3rd and 4th ports are set to auto-detect using the Modules page
Please do not send me PMs with technical questions or requesting assistance - use the forums for Apex help. PM me ONLY if the matter is of a private or personal nature. Thanks.

Ok. I see. It is programmable.
And I see Auto Detection doesn't get all 4 right. Does it mean some sensors are defective?
Let me set them manually and submerge all 4 sensors into water..

Now I see them all closed:

So, problem fixed but why did auto detection not work?

There are several possible reasons. The jack might not be plugged in all the way. The sensor may be bad. The FMM firmware could be mismatched to the AOS (out of date). There could be a problem with the FMM itself.

Hmmm. Jacks were and are plugged in. Sensors seem to be working (at least the optical part). Firmware was the latest and I did reflash.
Oh well.... It is working now as long as I don't use the auto detection.
    Thanks a lot.

I setup an FMM with optical sensor a couple of months ago and had the same problem.
With it on auto detect it didn't see the sensors.
I manually set it and it has worked fine for me ever since.
    YMMV.
