Apex Controlable Pump For CA Reactor

I need to replace the pump that pushes the water trough my CA reactor. I had been using a PMUP for the last year and a half but it recently died. According to Neptune support this was a bad idea as the PMUP was not intended run with its flow throttled way back by a mechanical valve. So now I need a new low flow pump. I was thinking rather than use a valve to throttle back the flow maybe I could get a pump that could have its flow rate controlled by my Apex. Anyone know of a dependable low volume pump that is Apex controllable that could be used to push the water through my CA reactor?

Depending on your system/CA reactor size I would say a DOS.
Costs alot more than a PMUP but hightly adjustable and no need for a flow control valve that clogs up.

No interest in DOS. I've been running a CA reactor for 25 years with no problem and no plans to change.

So back to the question at hand... Any suggestions for an Apex controllable pump to drive the CA reactor on my 90 gallon mixed reef?

If money is no object, a cole palmer variable speed peristalic is hands down the best CARX pump money can buy. You can sometimes find these used around $300.

SWMBO will never sign off on a reactor pump that cost that much. Need to get the price down to under a hundred.

Then your best bet for that price range is a good 1/4" plastic needle valve on the output and a cobalt MJ1200 as your feed pump.

    Agreed.

Your other options are the Kamoer continuous duty dosing pump or a used cole-parmer as mentioned above. There is not a continuous duty pump whose flow rate can be controlled by the apex.

You could replace it with another pmup, but tee off a bleed line back into the sump on the inlet, so the back pressure has somewhere to go. I would do this if you switch to a MJ also.
