AI Hydra 26 – doesn't show up/power fluctuations too

First, I've been using these AI Hydra 26's for a couple of years now. I haven't had trouble hooking them up to the apex until now. When I recently reset my Apex back to factory default and tried to reconnect the AI Hydra 26's, the apex now doesn't see them.

METHOD:
1 – reset Hydra 26's back to factory defaults
2 – connected them to AI app first (success!)
3 – started Neptune system's instructed set up within the apex for IOTA
4 – set up doesn't see my 2 lights. (fail!)

NOTE:

• If I set up AI Prime HD, which I just did, apex sees the light and sets it up just fine.
  Hydra's work somewhat fine, though powering them through the Apex EB8 seems to lead the lights to awkward dimming and brightening effects.
  
  • Regarding power: should I not power them through the EB8?

Equipment:
AI Hydra 26
Apex (current software: AC5:16219)
Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway 3P Router
Ubiquiti Unifi Switch 16 POE-150W
Ubiquiti Unifi AP-AC-LR access point
using iPad for set up, though I can use a laptop if needed.

UPDATE:

Regarding power fluctuations: plugged my Hydra 26's into a separate surge protector. Still getting lighting fluctuations, so perhaps it's not a problem with the EB8.

IOTA set up within Apex still failing, not seeing either light. AI Prime HD still sets up just fine

The Prime being plugged into an EB outlet is not an issue. It’s not recommended because it’s a waste of that controllable outlet but it is OK to do. The fluctuations are probably due to the Apex and MyAI both trying to control the light. Go into MyAI and switch it from Auto to Manual.

I think I need to clarify a couple of things. First, I have had no trouble with the Prime HD, though the problem you mention was certainly occurring with it – before.

I am however having the troubles mentioned above (original post and first comment) with my Hydra 26's (I have 2). I'm able to set up the lights with AI's app, so that makes me think their Wi-Fi/router connection is just fine.

If I connect the Apex via ethernet, will that help? I know the lights are Wi-Fi, but I thought I would mention it.

Again, these lights were working fiine last week. While I would like to think they aged and just broke, that doesn't seem to track with the facts.

Forgot to mention, I tried switching to manual from auto. Nothing changed.
