    WXM (Black Box)

I switched to the new 2016 APEX and after moving one of my WXM over, fusion alerted me that it needed to be updated due to an (OLD) update. I pushed the update and the module was responding but when it said the update was complete, I refreshed the module page on fusion and it still showed (OLD). I left it alone for 20 minutes thinking that it was still updating and when I came back to check on the status, (OLD) was still there. I then tried to push an RF Update and then another update and even though fusion said these were complete, they were not. Now that I have done this a few times, the status light on the WXM is now blinking and I can't get it to even register with the Apex with plugging it in via the aquabus cable.

    What do I do???

I contacted neptune via back and forth emails, and ultimately this is what they replied to fix the problem.

"It appears that the firmware on your WXM* could possibly be corrupted.

You should still be able to fix this locally.

Log into your Apex Local or Apex Fusion:

    1. Unplug the AquaBus cable from the WXM*
    2. Go to the Module Setup Page
    3. Choose your WXM* from the list.
    4. Click the Update Firmware button from the Action drop down list.
    5. Click the Orange Cloud icon.
    6. You will see updating firmware progression,
    7. Now in the middle of the firmware update plug back in AquaBus then more than likely, your WXM* will turn solid green shortly"

That immediately turned the blinking orange status light to a solid green light and then I was back in business.

    Then I:
    1. Unplugged the aquabus cable from one of the WXM leaving one connected to the apex
    2. Removed all radion and vortech outlets from the output page in fusion (had to refresh the page and do this a couple times)
    3. set the wxm to "wxm frequency 1"
    4. factory reset all the Radions with EcoSmart Live
    5. reset all the Vortechs via holding the buttons,
    6. select the 11 devices you want to connect to the first wxm
    7. unplug the power from the remainder of ecotech devices (only 11 devices can be on at this step)
    8. attach all the radions in the module set up page
    9. attached each vortech one at a time same link as above
    10. once the wxm was full, remove the aquabus cable from that wxm
    11. unplug all radions and vortechs that are attached to the first wxm
    12. plug in the remaining pumps and lights
    12. plug the aquabus cable into the second wxm
    13. set it to "WXM frequency 2"
    14. repeat the steps to attach the rest of the devices
    15. plug the first wxm back in and wait until the apex finds all the "missing" lights and pumps

I'm sure that I over did it with a few steps but it was better to start from scratch rather than continue to chase my tail. All that was left to do was program the lights and pumps to my specifications and I was off and running. If this helps only 1 person then it was worth me documenting it.

Thanks! I'm saving a shortcut to this page, for possible future reference.
