    4-20ma signal for control valve

I would like to incorporate a valve with a 4-20ma input positioner. Can apex be programmed to send an analog signal?

The apex is 0-10V, so you would need a converter. I saw several on Ebay for like 5 bucks.

    No, it's 4mA - 20mA. 4-20mA refers to the use of a current loop for signalling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Current_loop

    Interesting!

Wasnt aware of this standard at all. Current based 4-20mA vs. voltage based 0-10V.

Thanks for the educational link Russ.

So, I'm looping back around to this thread and knowing more and seeing all the industrial automation devices/sensors with either 4-20ma control signal and /or 4-20ma output it would be great to see that integrated into the next apex and/or a module.

Apex should have a true I/O box that allows control/monitoring of both 0-10V AND 4-20ma devices.
