switch reading reversed with upgrade from classic to EL

I recently migrated from a classic to an EL and carried forward my overall installation/configuration from the classic to the EL (replaced one of my EB8 with the EB832, left everything plugged into the same outlets, etc.)

The only change in connections was that I connected my breakout box to the I/O port on the PM2 instead of on the controller base unit.

I use the breakout box for a float switch in my skimmer collection cup.

What I ran into with the EL is that it read the empty cup as closed, where the classic read the empty cup as open.

The cable I use from the break out box to the float has a male/female connector (to remove for cleaning). When this is disconnected, the EL reads this as open, the classic read this as closed.

Obviously, I can update my programming - but I was wondering if anyone else ran into this when moving to the 2016 or EL from the classic.

There was something amuck with your classic then. It is not possible for a disconnected cable to read as CLOSED in any model of apex ever made unless the input was shorted (in which case it would always read closed) or some serious bug happened.

That float was probably set up 2 years ago - so the fact the Classic continued to work up until this last death reboot is probably a good string of luck for me.... Here is a comparison of the code between what was working on the classic, and what is now working on the EL - and again, the only change that would have impacted this is that I connected my breakout box to the PM2 instead of the controller.

    CLASSIC
    Skimmer (outlet)
    Fallback OF
    Set ON
If Power Apex Off 001 Then OFF
If Outlet SkimmerFull = ON Then OFF
If Outlet Rtn_Pmp = OFF Then OFF
    If FeedA 000 Then Off
    Deer 003:00 Then On

    SkimmerFull (virtual outlet)
    Set On
    If Sw6 CLOSED Then OFF

    EL
    Skimmer (outlet)
    Fallback OFF
    Set ON
If Power Apex OFF 001Then OFF
If Output SkimmerFull = OFF Then OFF
If Output Return_Pump = OFF Then OFF
    Defer 002:00 Then On

    SkimmerFull (virtual outlet)
    Set On
    If Swx5_6 OPEN Then OFF
