Do I need to split my dosing interval?

I would like to dose the alk portion of my 2 part starting at 6 pm and ending at 6 am. When I try to enter the times in this way (start at 1800, end at 600) into the DoS wizard I get an error saying that the start time has to be before the end time - this would happen anytime the interval crosses midnight. Am I required to split my dose so that I run one from 1800 to 2400 and run a second one from 0000 to 600, to effectively span 1800 to 0600?

Apparently the answer is yes the interval needs to be split. I was having trouble doing that because my original interval ended at 23:59. When the original interval has an end time later than 23:48 the wizard doesn't allow you to create a second interval.

It has to be split if you plan on dosing ALK only during night hours. With that said, I wouldn't recommend dosing alk only during night. 24 hours is much better IME because corals don't consume much ALK at night, so you are sacrificing KH stability only to benefit pH stability. If I had to choose between KH stability and pH stability, I would always choose KH stability.

Thanks. I'll consider that. I was planning to only dose alk at night because I'm using an NaOH solution that requires very high surface agitation to immediately dissolve the ppt that forms when it drips into the water. The strong powerhead at the water surface is a problem during the daytime because the "display" is a pond with only top-down viewing, which doesn't work when a strong current is constantly ripping across the surface. I'll see if I can come up with something.

Go into the pump and set up a interval like you want as far as times to run. or go into the Task and go through the one for AWC. either way will do it.
